Simple homemade cider

Simple homemade cider

Makes about 12 litres of cider at 5%. Roughly 40 kcal per 100 ml. Best served chilled. Enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 15 L demijohn with an airlock
  • 100% apple juice — 12 L
  • Wine yeast
  • Water — half a cup

Method

  1. Pour the apple juice into the demijohn. Press your own or buy 100% juice.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in half a cup of warm water. Wait a few minutes until it starts working, then add it to the demijohn.
  3. Leave it for about 14 to 20 days.
  4. When fermentation stops — no more bubbling in the airlock — siphon the cider into bottles with a tube.
  5. Try not to draw up the sediment from the bottom of the demijohn.
  6. The cider is ready to drink. It is best chilled.
